The picturesque thatch-and-sandstone camp is almost invisible among the surrounding baobabs and boulders - Accommodation

Our guests are accommodated in a beautifully designed stone-and-thatch camp that blends aesthetically into its surroundings amongst towering baobabs and giant boulders at the foot of magnificent sandstone cliffs.

The camp, known as Sandstone at Sentinel, sleeps a total of 8 persons in four thatched chalets (one double, three sharing).  Chalets are all equipped  with a bathroom-en-suite with hot and cold running water (that is safe to drink) and a shaded veranda for moments of solitude and tranquility.  The rooms are attractively decorated, private and comfortable.  Mosqitoes are not much of a problem around camp, but nevertheless, windows are screened and each bed has a mosquito net above it, giving your room a real safari ambience. The camp is electrified, but a generator is on standby for the occasional load-shedding!  A daily maid and laundry service is provided.

The central terraced dining and living rooms are open-fronted and built under a sprawling thatched roof  with bar and fridge within easy reach!  In front of the living area, a spacious rock terrace and firepit overlooks the flat-topped Pimwa Mountain, a tree-studded plain and not-too-distant waterhole frequented by elephants and antelope. Drinks around the campfire at night afford one of the best views of the Milky Way to be found in the southern hemisphere, and one is lulled to sleep by echoes of grunting leopards and whooping hyena in the distance!  A fabulous way to experience Africa!

John Tshuma, your talented camp chef, can prepare a mouthwatering array of dishes: soups and homemade rolls, venison stews and curries, roasts, barbeques, casseroles, salads and deliciously cheesy homemade pizza!  He is adept at accommodating special dietary requirements and will not fail to send you to bed replete and spoilt with his delicious assortment of desserts.  Always smiling and cheerful, Never Moyo, "Waiter-Extraordinaire", is on hand to cater to your every need.

Most meals are served in a cosy sheltered dining room where, in winter, a fire blazes in the rather unusually positioned fireplace.  Or, in summer, meals can be served in the garden under the trees where you can watch birds, dassies, klipspringers and baboons get on with their day on the hillside and cliffs above.

Safety: This is paramount, and we are happy to say that we have never had any kind of disturbance or upheaval, political or otherwise, with guests in camp.  Our relationship with the authorities is a cordial one, so rest assured that your holiday on Sentinel Ranch will be safe and undisturbed.

Sentinel Limpopo Eco Safaris offers both fully-catered and self-catered options and guests have exclusivity of the camp while they are with us.  Advanced booking is essential. Contact us for rates and services.
